About

Cardio-vascular disease (CVD) is the Number One killer in the world. More than any other cause, including accidents, AIDS or other diseases. Including wars.

In fact, current statistics show that 46,000 people die every day around the world from CVD. That’s 1916 people every hour, which makes that 32 people every minute. In the 3 minutes I took to write this short note so far, about 100 people have died from either heart attack or stroke. Scary, isn’t it?

The sad fact is that CVD is one of the most preventable diseases. How do we know this? Just look at what causes this disease. Heart attacks or strokes happen when one of our blood vessels is blocked, caused by a rupture in the wall of the vein. If it happens in the brain, we suffer a stroke; if it occurs in other parts of the body, we get a heart attack. Either way, we die or worse, we become incapacited, as in partial or complete paralysis.
